Hostas for Small Gardens
We don't grow very many miniature hostas.
Miniatures are defined by the American Hosta Society as plants having leaves
measuring 3.75 square inches or less, which is really pretty small for a
mature hosta. Because of their very small root systems, some miniature
hostas are more difficult to grow than larger varieties. The miniatures
included in our collections are relatively easy to grow as long as they are
kept watered.
The collections below contain mostly
small hostas, plants that should be spaced 15-24" apart. Miniatures should be spaced 8-12" apart.

Ko Mame Japan NR
We received this plant labeled kikutii 'Ko Mame' and listed it under
that name last year. We have since found that this is the
correct name for the plant. According to George Schmid the name
translates to "gold-margined, very small hosta". It has been listed
as a sport of H. gracillima, but I don't know if it is or not. It
forms a very small mound of shiny green leaves with a wavy, creamy
white margin. Very cute.
