A BRIDGEWOOD GARDENS INTRODUCTION
505100 Big Bopper Bridgewood Gardens NR
An ‘Uncle Albert’ hybrid with large glossy medium green leaves,
wide at the base and tapering to a sharp point. It’s
kikutii background is apparent from its leaf shape, its deeply
impressed veins, and its low spreading habit. Its flower
scapes bend toward the ground and are held somewhat
horizontally, a trait it inherits from both H. kikutii var.
caput-avis and H. hypoleuca., from which ‘Uncle Albert’ is bred.
Flowers are near-white.

506300 Blue Angel Aden 1986
There are a great many large blue cultivars, some say too many. This
one has large, heart-shaped leaves, not puckered but nicely veined.
It is probably of sieboldiana
lineage, but seems to be faster growing and less crinkled than most
of the sieboldiana hybrids. It also seems to get larger than
most. I have been told of, but have not seen, a single clump that is
10’ across. Even if yours doesn’t break any records, its likely to
be one of the largest Hostas in your garden. White flowers.

A BRIDGEWOOD GARDENS INTRODUCTION
510150 Braveheart Winterberry Farms Not Registered
This is our introduction of a plant that originated at Winterberry
Farms. We discovered this plant in a batch of tissue culture
liners of ‘Invincible’ we received from them. It is apparently a
tetraploid form of ‘Invincible’, with thicker, darker leaves,
glossy, with slightly wavy margins. Both its flower and scape
are larger than ‘Invincible’. I’m told by Bob Solberg that if
it is a true tetraploid (it has not been tested) the fragrance will
also be stronger, but I am no judge of such things.

Bright Lights
Aden NR
A larger and much faster growing form of tokudama
‘Aureonebulosa’. Leaves are heavily textured and puckered, yellow
with blue margins. As you can see by the pictures if you click on
the thumbnail, its appearance depends on the amount of light it
gets, with brighter coloring resulting from more sun. It seems to
handle quite a bit of sun here, given sufficient water, but I think
it looks much better in medium light. White flowers

Petryszyn 1998 (Large) Olga
Petryszyn is best known for her beautiful, mostly large leaved
solid color hybrids such as ‘Manhattan’, ‘Hoosier Dome’ and many
others. Of the few variegated hostas she has introduced, I
think this is definitely the most spectacular. The leaf has a
gold maple leaf center and a dark green margin, with chartreuse
streaks between the center and margin. The leaf is broadly
heart-shaped and heavily puckered. Flowers are near-white.
Truly spectacular.
